The Rise’s Inaugural Match at BC Place

First there was the March…
The day we had all been waiting for finally arrived — the dawn of a new era in Canadian Professional Women’s Soccer! Vancouver Rise FC proudly hosted the very first match of the Northern Super League right here at BC Place, taking on Calgary Wild FC in a historic showdown.
The Crow Collective kicked things off in style, marching up Robson Street with energy that could shake the city. Banners waved, two-sticks high in the air and chants echoed through the street as we made our way to Terry Fox Plaza. We crowed loud and proud for all to hear. This was more than a march, it was the next step in a movement that so many have been a part of.

Then there was a Match…
The atmosphere inside BC Place was nothing short of electric. The stadium buzzed with the voices of women, girls, families, fans and supporters of all ages coming together to witness history unfold. And oh, did it ever!
Before kickoff, the Crow Collective unveiled our first-ever tifo (a massive, hand-painted masterpiece that was weeks in the making). Every brushstroke was a labor of love from our members and seeing it raised high in the stadium was a moment we’ll never forget. Curious about how it all came together? Don’t miss our behind-the-scenes article!
From the first whistle to the final moments, the game kept us on the edge of our seats. The chants never stopped. Some we knew, some we made up on the spot, all fueled by pure adrenaline and passion. And then, the goal! Quinn netted the very first goal in Northern Super League history and the only one we needed. That goal not only sealed the win, it stamped our place in NSL lore forever. The eruption of cheers, pride and maybe a few tears was unforgettable.
What a way to kick off the season. What a way to make history.
